In August 2021, PATCHWERK hosted, MY LEGACY, our annual summer youth workshop, in Charles Town, Portland, Jamaica. Alongside school officials from Charles Town Basic School, with the support of 35 international sponsors, 20 youth artists came together despite tropical storms, country lockdowns, Covid-curfews, blackouts and water shortages to create wooden tables that not only celebrated their indigenous ancestry,  but also voiced their dreams and presence.

After two weeks of art and history
instruction, the children were ready to showcase thier art and invite art donors to purchase. For the first time in PATCHWERK history, all closing ceremony donors gifted back the art pieces to the artists. Together we raised $253,515 JD, which provided program supplies, cash prizes for each artist and local volunteers, and a large donation to the Charles Town Basic School for critical repairs. Let’s continue to weave souls and save art. Humanity is like a quilt; when woven together, we become greater than ourselves.
